Managed n8n hosting in the EU: what it includes, what the market charges, and when it beats n8n Cloud
Dabster Labs · Last updated 23 October 2026
n8n is the automation tool we build every client workflow on. It comes in three shapes: n8n Cloud, where n8n runs it for you on their servers; self-hosted, where you run the free Community edition on your own server; and managed hosting, where someone runs a dedicated instance for you on a server in the EU. This page is about the third shape: what it actually includes, what the market charges for the other two, and when managed is the right call for a business in Cyprus or Greece.
What managed n8n hosting means
You get your own n8n instance, not a shared one: its own container, its own database, its own URL, on a server located in the EU. The provider installs it, keeps it updated, backs it up, watches it, and fixes it when a node breaks after an update. You log in and build, or have the workflows built for you. Your credentials, your data and your execution history never sit next to another company’s.
How we do it at Dabster Labs: one instance per client on a dedicated EU server (Finland or Germany, Hetzner), nightly encrypted backups with a tested restore, a health check every minute with alerts to us, updates applied after we test them on our own instance first, and the AI models the workflows call routed to EU providers with zero retention (Mistral, Scaleway) unless the client decides otherwise. The client holds admin access and can export every workflow as JSON at any time. How this is packaged and priced is on the pricing page.
What the market charges for the other two shapes
List prices in October 2026, so you can place managed hosting against them. Check n8n.io/pricing before you buy, plans change.
- n8n Cloud Starter: 20 euros a month on annual billing (24 monthly) for 2,500 executions and 5 active workflows. Pro: 50 euros a month (60 monthly) for 10,000 executions. An execution is one run of a whole workflow; a trigger that polls your inbox every five minutes alone burns more than 8,000 executions a month.
- Self-hosted Community edition: free, unlimited executions. A VPS able to run it comfortably costs roughly 5 to 20 euros a month in the EU. The real cost is time: updates, backups, SSL, the database, and the evening it stops working.
- Generic managed n8n providers: typically 10 to 40 euros a month for a hosted instance, usually without workflow building, without an EU-only AI policy, and with support by ticket.
When each shape is right
| Question | n8n Cloud | Self-hosted | Managed (EU) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who keeps it running | n8n | You | The provider |
| Executions | Capped by plan | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Where the data lives | n8n’s cloud (EU region available) | Your server | Dedicated EU server |
| Who builds the workflows | You | You | You or the provider |
| Best for | One person testing ideas, few executions | Technical teams | Businesses that want it to just work, with Greek-speaking support |
The pattern we see in Cyprus: a business starts on n8n Cloud, hits the execution cap within two months once a WhatsApp or email trigger is live, and faces either the next plan or a server. Managed hosting is the step that keeps unlimited executions without hiring someone to babysit a server. For the full cost comparison between Cloud and self-hosting, with the execution maths, see n8n self-hosted vs n8n Cloud.
What “EU hosting” has to mean to count
- The server is physically in the EU and the hosting company is an EU company (so no US law reaches the data through the provider).
- The AI models the workflows call are also EU-hosted, or the client has explicitly chosen a US model for a specific step. A workflow on a Finnish server that sends every email to a US API is not EU hosting.
- Backups stay in the EU too, and the restore has been tested, not assumed.
- There is a data processing agreement naming the provider as processor, with the sub-processors listed.
If a provider cannot answer all four in writing, it is a server rental, not managed EU hosting. For where the AI model itself should run, cloud, EU server or a box in your office, see AI automation without the cloud: the 3 options.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move from n8n Cloud to a managed instance?
Yes. Workflows export as JSON and import unchanged. Credentials are re-entered once for security. A typical move takes an afternoon, plus a day of watching the first runs.
Is the n8n Community edition allowed for commercial use?
Yes, under n8n’s Sustainable Use License, for your own internal business automation. What it does not allow is reselling n8n itself as a hosted product to third parties without an agreement; a provider running your instance for your business is the normal, allowed case.
Do I own the workflows?
Yes. Everything built for you is exported to you as JSON and documented. If you leave, you take the instance’s contents with you.
What happens when n8n releases a breaking update?
We update our own instance first, run our workflows against it, and only then roll the update to clients, with a backup taken immediately before. If a node breaks, we fix the workflow, not you.
The next step
If you already have workflows on n8n Cloud or on a server someone set up and left, tell us what runs on it. We will say honestly whether managed hosting changes anything for you, and if it does, the price is written down before you sign. Start from the pricing page or book a call.
